Reason Number 1#: There Are New Ways Get Starting Capital.
Funding isn't an issue, if you haven't heard yet there is community of people that want to invest in cool ideas. Kickstarter is a great example of how you can fund a great idea.

A lot of times I get the notion that people think you need a suitcase full of cash to get going with a new business the truth is that most of the best business entrepreneurs started out with nickels and dimes in their pocket.

And if it's too hard for you to think about what to give social money contributor in return for their money check for start-up loans from your state or go old school and ask your family and friends for some spare cash with a promise that they get a hefty profit when the pay day comes.

Reason number 2#: It’s easier to find your dream business partner.
It's easier to find partners to get started, the web is filled with people who are looking for a great business idea to work on, engineers and architects are waiting for a good idea and a friendly business partner to land in their laps and that can be you.

You can use social networks and entrepreneur job offer boards to start looking for the people you need to fill the employee’s pieces of your startup puzzle.

Reason Number 3#: Enjoy Your Own Talent.
You can finally be your own boss. Do you need to give away all your talent to someone else?
Why should your boss be the one who picks up all the fruit? To be the boss of you isn't an easy job but if you can make it work and you know how to run yourself efficiently the rewards will be a successful business.

Reason Number 4#: Following Your Dreams.
It’s a chance to follow your dream. Many times I hear from people “my dream is to run my own business” and still with that dream these very talented individuals stay in the working force as employees till the day they retire.

If you have a dream of owning your own shop or corporation it’s time to stop dreaming and start acting.

Reason Number 5#: Websites and Social Networks.
There are great websites that can help your business boom quickly, from business tips sites and social networks that can help you be discovered all around the world.

Here’s a list of some:

6)       Linkedin
7)       Youtube / Google+

The list can go on and on but you can probably find all around the search engines great sites that can boost your business in various kinds of ways.

Reason Number 6#: It Can Be Exciting.
While your regular day job gives you a snooze feel your business can bring you back to life, you can go forward and expand look to even franchise or just keep running a simple but good operation that can be passed on to your future or present family.

Reason Number 7#: You can create work places.
In this economy every open job is a blessing for some lucky family and you can be the one that makes that blessing happen. And if you can hire a challenged person that I can vouch will be as twice as motivated as anybody else then your will be twice as blessed back.

Reason Number 8#: This U.S Election Is All About Getting The Small Business Votes.
This year you will hear about the small business sector more than any other sector in the world, small business is what makes the world go round, if you have small business shops close than nobody in the big company HQ has where to eat, drink, do laundry and etc.

My Check List Before Starting A New Small Business

I have a check list of things that I need before following in to a new business, this isn't something that is the same with everyone because each and every person needs his personal check list to be sure why he or she is starting a business.

1. My First Thing On The List Is: You Need To Be In Love With The Business.

If I'm building a club, a business consulting firm or a restaurant I need to be deeply in love with the concept of the business that is on the table in front of me.

With No Passion It's Hard To Wake Up In The Morning Every Day To Run Your Business.

2. If It Sounds Too Good To Be True And Too Easy, Start Looking For Something Else To Do.

When I first started my event planning company I said to myself "this will be easy I can run the whole operation from my phone" well it wasn't easy and after 2 years of losing a lot of potential business I switched my mind set to invest all my efforts to make my business working as optimized as possible.

No Business Is Really Easy, Some Are Harder From Other But None Are Easy.

3. If You Need To Hire People, Do You know Where To Find Them?

At the moment a have a startup offer in front of me I ask myself is this a solo mission? or do I need to hire help, When you need to hire think really hard if you know where to hire because a business can rise or fall on who works at your business.

When You Start A Business The Right Set Of People Can Be Very Crutal.

4.Will The Business Make Money?

The simplest question that has to be asked is; are we going to make money? What is the sales potential? What happens if the market dies? All are very important questions.

Sales Sales Sales...

5. Are there 4 P's You Can Work With?

Place
Promotion
Price
Product

6. Can You Cut Costs In The Near Future?

When forming a new business you should always look 1-2 years forword to look for ways to cut costs.

Cutting Costs Is The Only Good Deffence When A Price War Starts.

7. Will You Ever Want To Sell Your Business For A Profit?

If you will ever want to sell it for a profit then you don't really want your business.

Going In To A Business Is Never The Same As Getting Out Of One.

A Short Guide For Building A Restaurant

Opening a restaurant isn't easy and it takes careful planing, any advice or help you can get before opening a restaurant is essential to your chances of survival. if your about to open a restaurant or any kind of bar or lounge that's going to serve food you better be ready for missing your free time.

This guide will help you chapter after chapter how to build a successful restaurant and how to make a successful business, there are all kinds of ways to make money in the food business and building a dinner or a steak house may be one of those ways but it comes with allot of effort and sacrifice to really make things work.

Opening A Restaurant, How to begin. - Chapter 1

My father god bless his soul is a restaurant entrepreneur in heart and he opened a couple of restaurants in his lifetime, since the year of 1994 he has been the manager at over 8 different restaurants on the course of years, his brothers are also proud owners of a few restaurants and after spending much time at their business establishment I can say proudly that I have learned all the right moves and all the wrong choices a business owner can do.

The
restaurant business is not easy, if you want to start-up a place of your own you got to consider many aspects that can be a deal breaker for your business plan. But if you are in it for the long run and your dedicated to make your business work you can break even and start shooting for the stars.

Fact: Running a restaurant is hard work. Before you even start looking for a place you have to make yourself a promise that you're going to give up a healthy sleep and forget about a social life for some time. To get things started a general business plan is in order, this business plan should have everything figured out to the smallest details, there is need of a worst case scenario in it just in case everything you planned goes terribly wrong if you know what I mean.

When you start the business plan the first thing you need to think about is the concept you wish to build the restaurant around, is it Fast Food, Luxury, Sushi, Steak, Latin, French or Italian? Without a concept your restaurant doesn't have any identity. You need a business  plan that brings your investment back in a year to two years at most, in this business plan put everything in even the salary that your paying yourself (yes you need a salary as a owner).

Now look at the cash you have in hand and the realistic options of  the cash you can bring in your business for start-up costs and running costs, if everything fits you have a green light to continue, if not go back to the drawing board. You can fund a bigger and better place with loans but be sure that your business plan is built around paying the loans of in the timeline of 5 years at most.

Next up is finding a location for your restaurant. Now if you don't know it yet you do now, Location is the most important part of your business plan to open a restaurant, don't think people will drive for 2 hours to eat dinner because you got a good price on some fish you sell.

When searching for a location never look for a place alone, when you bring a person with you they sometimes see the things that your about to miss time and time again.

Bonus Tip: When opening a big restaurant I advise to look for strategic partners to bring in, running a big restaurant alone is a heavy task for anyone. A partner maybe takes some pieces of the pie but sometimes that means that your baking bigger pies.

Chapter 2

Now after you are putting the basics in place it's time to target a market, and for that you need to connect your location to the market you want to target.
Are you looking to attract big pocket customers with cash to spend or are you more interested in customers that are looking for a value for each dollar they spend, in any scenario you better be willing to do adjustments to your business plan because even after you build a good plan and you open your doors the customers who come in are not who you expected to be.

Now let's say you got a location and niche for your restaurant, what about equipment? Well I always think that people overspend their money on building a kitchen and buying everything new is not always the best option. There are certain thing that you can find at a good state of quality second hand from a restaurant that closed down fast for a good price that can later be spent on marketing and public relations.
Layout your restaurant, you don't want to build without planning, and if you are a fan of efficiency than you better not let this important issue go over looked, plan your restaurant so customers don't sit next to the restroom and waiters don't have to walk to far with food in their hands.

If you're still filled with the idea to open up your own restaurant then it's time to look for good employees, you start by finding your leading cook and that’s the house chef. The truth is you can't predict success with chefs but you better know they aren't cheap bad or good you better be willing to pay their price.
Beside your chef you need waiters, bartenders and kitchen staff, I have only on advice for you on the issue and that’s don't be cheap on the people that you hire so you can bring in experienced workers that can bring out smiles from your customers, go head hunting for talents in other places if you can.

Be very clear about what everyone has to do at work, make sure that people know where to be and when they need to be. Train your staff to do things as a team that’s the only way to succeed.

Let's say you're not a big restaurateur, then bringing in a manager is a wise choice to go with, someone who knows the ropes can help you build your way to making a place run properly and if you find a really good and he is a big reason your making a lot of money make him a small partner and give him a reason to stay.

Chapter 3 - The List...

Now lets fast forward, you are one day before opening night, do you have this list in order?
1. Open a facebook & google+ page!
2. Sign Up For Yelp !
3. Build a website.!
4. Have all the staff you need for running the place, does everybody know where to be and when?.
5. Do you have your first menu's with no errors on them?.
6. Do you have you supply chain and supply orders in tact for the day after tomorrow?
7. Do you have all the needed permits? health department, fire dept. and any other permit you may need.
8. Did you build a handicap restroom?
9. Did you invite all your neighbors from home and work to come to the opening, did you make first impression prices on the bar for opening night?
10. Did you contact a PRto do some work and build a buzz around your place?
This list can be expanded easily to more and more issues and business owner should address.

Smal Business: How To Hire

As a small business it isn't always easy to hire the right people.
I Always advise to stop looking for people with diploma's and no work experience. If you’re a small or medium business that wants to prosper you must start looking for people with experience and creativity and not only administration skills.
First of all don't get me wrong I tBut In today's business world school is not everything you need to succeed it has looked open and seen as a tool for a person to do well and expand his way of thinking at work, a tool is sometimes not enough that's why you need more than school smarts. Yes the theory lessons graduates learn are important but my perspective is that a small business should be looking for employees that have already worked for some time and watching for x-factors that can make your business thrive under difficult circumstances is important as much as having someone with an M.A or M.B.A on your payroll. Look at the biggest company's today and you will find that finding talent is as much important then finding a well learned fresh out of school student.
hink going in a M.B.A program in a good school can lift you higher in any direction you choose to go in your future career.

Let me share my personal experience with people I have worked with and people who worked under my supervision. The first thing I found out is that there are some people with M.B.A's that are clueless and have no idea how a retail business, office or even a storage room for equipment looks like.
Some people I know with an M.B.A are very brilliant. What usually makes someone a good catch for your Business is to look to see if they know what they are talking about.

The second thing that was interesting is the fact that I found people with army experience that managed soldiers under their command where very at ease when walking in to a management position. Yes they were not born business people in heart but when you can manage people that work for free (IDF Soldiers Serve For 90$ A Month On A Full Time Job For Example) you can easily manage people who want to work for money and career opportunities.
I can't say I would want a former senior officer as a CEO but I can say that in middle management low rank officers can prosper in the business world.

The third thing that I found interesting is that people who hire are not looking enough for workers with entrepreneurial skills, that’s a shame because I know that a small or medium business can't survive with initiatives and innovation.
I see people that have small business hire the wrong people all the time. Small businesses in Israel have trouble finding good help because someone told them that without a degree there worker isn't worth much.

People are looking for workers that went to a good school rather then worked at a good job. They are not looking to bring in talented workers with loads of experience and with the passion to learn but no degree in their hands. That's a shame because I believe that if you can build a business advantage on the basics of mixing your workforce with theory and practical working people together as a team you are bound to get better results than favoring a specific type of employee.

I believe in what I say, just look at my profile to understand how I build myself to have a bit of both worlds.
Experience, Being initiative and Learning at a good school come together.
I will finish my undergraduate degree in fall of 2012 at the age of 23 (I am the youngest in my class), I opened my own business I worked in three completely different jobs in the last 7 years while the business was running and I have 3 years in the army behind me as commander, I have taken courses and I have tried more than once to start more business while having a steady work in-between.

I study with a special group of people that are between the ages of 35 and 50. They have all been promoted in the biggest business firms in Israel without even having a B.A under their belt. What does that say? That they are talented and they are smart enough to know that business school is a great tool that sometimes you should get after you get some work experience and not before.
For conclusion, I love business school and I hope to study in a top business school in the near future, but as a small business owner I need more than good grade employees and if your small business owner looking to beat the competitors that look just like you, make your variant workforce the winning factor to improve your business.
